Hello again and thank you for taking the time to read our newsletter. Our first publication came out in March of 2007 and it was a great success throughout the community. We received many wonderful comments and we would like to thank you for giving us your valuable feedback. In our newsletters, we strive to bring you informative and helpful information. We believe a healthy community is
a well informed and educated one.
We have recently been asked some questions as to if we are affiliated with
the new clinics that have recently opened in the area. We would like to
reiterate that Eastside Medical Urgent Care is independently owned and
operated.
We are free-standing and are not affiliated with any other facilities.
Eastside Medical Urgent Care is a well established practice that opened in
May of 2003. We have been successful in managing our practice and
providing quality care to more than 40,000 patients. Our facility
recruits the areas best medical professionals and requires ALS or CPR/AED
certification for all medical and front office staff. We are proud of our
accomplishments and wish to keep our autonomy known to the community.
If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact our office at (585) 388-5280 or send us an email at info@EastsideUrgentCare.com
Sincerely,
Tahmtan Hormozdyaran, M.D. Medical Director |

TRAVELERS BEWARE! The occurrence of the diseases listed below may currently be rare in the US; however, the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) has listed them as reportable diseases and emphasizes the need for appropriate immunization prior to travel to countries where these conditions remain prevalent.
Cholera - In 2005 the number of laboratory confirmed cases was the largest since 1998. Although incidents are low, 36% of the cases were acquired outside the US.
Hepatitis A - Transmission of this disease has declined within the US. Travel to countries where Hepatitis A is endemic, is now the most frequently reported risk factor for all age groups.
Typhoid Fever - More than 300 cases are reported annually in the US. The CDC says about 75% occur in persons who report international travel, with visitors to South Asia at greatest risk. |

Eastside Medical Urgent Care is proud to be a sponsor of Jon's mission as a Pro Core Volunteer to Shibwe Health Center in Kakamega, Kenya |

|
On a chilly day in March 2007, Jon Gootnick left his comfortable home and his position as an RPA-C at Eastside Medical Urgent Care to fulfill his vocation and to give of himself to those less fortunate.
Jon spent two months in Africa at the Shibwe Health Center In Kakamega, Kenya. The facility was equipped with electricity but no running water. Pit latrines and basic water tanks are used for sanitation and hygiene purposes.
Many of these people are very ill and extremely poor, explained Jon. Some of the people who are very sick do not have transportation or are too weak to make the trip to a doctor. |
|
Jon did make a few house calls while he was there and even received a live
chicken as a token of gratitude.
One thing that stood out to Jon was the fact that despite the poverty and poor living conditions, the people of Kenya were always smiling and appreciative. "I am so moved by these people that I am unable to adequately express it in words", said Jon. |
